Kr00zA:
By 'standard' I meant a door in a normal wall with a level floor.
Spent the best part of three hours yesterday trying to get a door to work because it's in an odd place having a sunken floor each side. Finally managed it by working out I had to make the door a completely detached sector from the surrounding walls... simple things like that take me three hours lol :o
Been studying other maps and copying the method used to make switch activated doors... convinced Ive done everything the same... but mine dont work... worse still that make the map crash so Im getting something really wrong ::)
By the way... how to a pair sectors up? For example Ive got three bars across a passageway, and they all work independently when clicked. How do I get all three to raise no matter which of the three is clicked on?... these are the sort of things I mean when I say 'Basic' ;)

There's more than one way you could "pair" those sectors together.
The first one would be to tag them all the same tag number. Any line using that tag number would activate them all at the same time.
Second, you could just turn them into one sector. You do that by selecting them all and clicking the "join sectors" or "merge sectors" button.
That is something you only ever want to do if you have some sectors that are identical in every way (same height, textures used, etc) AND you know that you will never want them to act independently from each other.
What you're doing with the bars here fits that criteria so give it a try.

How to use the "Creating an Alcove Illuminated By a Pickup Item" with EX 2.3?
Kr00zA:
Download my map 'DOOM UFOs' That has four alcoves using that effect.
