linedef 54 & general plats

I have a platform surrounded by a few sectors.  The platform always drops down to the lowest sector, but this is not what I want.  I would like the platform to stop at the next-highest sector (about 32 units up from the lowest).  I have tried to use ld54 (Plat Platform Stop) to achieve this, but it doesn't seem to do anything.  Am I missing something here?

Type 54 is designed for perpetual platforms, so it wouldn't work if your using a normal lift. If you want it to stop at a certain height, you'll need to set it up as a macro.
