Sync Speicals - Lights?

(1/2) > >>

Kr00zA:
Im putting this in here as Im sure it me and not a bug.
When I give different sectors the same lighting effect... like 'Fast flicker' and then tick the 'Sync Specials' box the lighting effect doesn't work.

In this room I have different shades of light admitted from the same source so they need to be synced.
Effects like 'Slow Pulse' work as they dont need the 'Sync Specials'
But the 'Flicker' effects look more like a Strobe Light without it.

Kaiser:
The sectors that has the sync specials flag must have the same special type in order for it to work.

Kr00zA:
Yeah I checked and rechecked and everything was fine as far as I could see. Try several different effects and can't get 'Random Flicker' to sync though the others seem fine. odd ::)
Mind you I had another weird thing with a switch.
Moved it from one wall to another and suddenly it wouldn't work.
Checked tags and actions and all was fine.
Found that putting the switch on 'Shoot to activate' and it worked' But not with 'Use'
Found that with 'noclip' on I could move a little closer to the switch which was in an 8 unit recess and it worked with 'Use'

Couldn't figure it out. Deleted the whole switch and recess and rebuilt it. Added tags again. No joy.
Deleted a linedef close to the switch as it had an action tagged to it and thought maybe standing on it was screwing with the switch... no luck either.
Moved it back to the other wall and it worked fine  ::)

Kr00zA:
After working with Doom64 Builder some more over the last couple of weeks I think I can confirm that 'Lights Flicker Randomly' will not work if you 'sync' it's effect with other adjoining sectors with the same lighting effect.

This is a shame as 'Lights Flicker Randomly' is the only effect that works well with a room lit by flames but as it can't be synced a multipul sector room using this effect looks more like strobe lighting.

Kaiser:
I think you're doing it wrong. All sectors you want affected needs to have that flag set as well as that special set.
